I am getting married in August %26#039;07 and have decided to make my own flower arragements w/ the help of my maid of honor, mother, and future mother-in law. I%26#039;ve never made flower arrangements, but the future MIL has. I am using all white or cream roses (not sure of the type). I was wondering if anyone knew of a good place in Southern Florida to buy wholesale roses? Also, if you have any extra advice that would be great too. Thanks!!
DIY Wedding Flowers?
FlowersBirthday FlowersSympathy FlowersI agree 100% about the fake flowers. Try a local produce store, farm market or grocery store.
We did this and spent under $700 for the entire wedding. Get delivery. If you want full blown roses ask them to leave them out. Keep your arrangements simple. Order some Baker%26#039;s Fern and Baby%26#039;s Breath for trim. Ribbon might be cheaper at a craft store.
We did it and it was beautiful. I have ABSOLUTELY no experience. LOL

Reply:i second sams club or costco for roses. I used costco for my wedding flowers and they were just gorgeous. I arranged them myself and also purchased pew cones from www.pewcones.com for the ceremony and then carried the flower cones to the reception and hung them on chairs. Costco lets you order them about 1 month in advance and you can get them tight, medium, or open. I picked them up 2 days before the wedding and got medium. They were perfect by the weddign day. Good luck
Reply:go to costco. you can get a few dozen for under $20!
then you can try it first and it wont cost you a fortune.
Reply:my flowers were silk and they looked so real that no on realized that they were fake. I can put my flowers out in my home for decoration. All the money spent on them and I can enjoy them for a long time. MAKE SURE THEY ARE NOT HEAVY you have to hold them a long time during pictures! This is for silk or fresh
Reply:You can%26#039;t buy whole sell unless you have a tax ID #, but you can call a local florist for the flowers or go to a supermarket that sells flowers. I go with the florist if it is particular flower types you want, they may need to order them so give them at least a weeks notice.
Reply:Gooood luck, it%26#039;s a lot more work than you%26#039;d ever imagine it to be.
Reply:I would stick with the hand-tied look. Something simple, but elegant. There are probably other areas you could save on if you are uncomfortable doing your own flowers. I would make sure the future MIL knew what she was talking about and see some examples of what she has done before going through with this. There are a lot of things to do the night before the wedding and you may not have time to make all of the flower arrangements, as you planned.
I agree about the white/cream flowers. You may want to use ribbons or something else to make your flowers stand out.
Costco does have some very reasonably priced roses. Good luck!
Reply:Search on line before you buy. They have great deals and if your color is not a specialty one the risk is very low! Hand tied is best for do-it-yourselfers....remember to blunt cut the ends so they are even and french braid the ribbon around the stems.
Good luck!
Reply:Honestly, I%26#039;d say use silk. Silk doesn%26#039;t wilt and if you mess up you can redo them as many times as you want until you are happy.
With fresh flowers you will really only be able to do them the day before so if anything goes wrong you are in the weeds.
That being said freshroses.com has gotten great reviews from what I%26#039;ve seen and have discounts for bulk purchases like you are talking about. Order them two or three days before and put them in water with an asprin to preserve them so they have plenty of time to open up.
Reply:i found this webiste that gives tips and advice on how to make a wedding bouquet hope it helps it seems like it would

Reply:Sam%26#039;s Club has great deals on roses. Typically, just at the store, they are about $13 for 2 dozen, and they have bulk rates at:

You have to be a Sam%26#039;s club member, but they deliver to the store, and it is a great price and good quality.
Also, just my two cents as someone who works as a wedding coordinator, white and cream roses tend to disappear against the white dress. If you have your heart set on white and also have a white dress, then consider using a lot of greenery and maybe a touch of berries or filler flower to make it stand out from your dress.visual arts
